Spring is one of our favourite seasons to sell a home – flowers are beginning to bloom, the weather isn’t as cold and it’s getting lighter in the evenings. The dark and wintery season is almost behind us and we can look forward to warmer weather.

If you’re planning to sell your home in the coming weeks, then we’ve suggested some proven tips that can help attract more viewers to your home.

Brighten your home with flowers

Often a fresh coat of paint can make a difference when you sell your home, but you may not wish to invest in a painter and decorator or have the time to do it yourself. A great alternative is to select and arrange spring flowers (daffodils and tulips) throughout your home for viewings and photographs. The colours will brighten each room and encourage viewers to book an appointment.

Garden and maintenance

Winter in Scotland is a particularly cold and windy season, especially this year. Most of the people that contact us looking for their new home are planning to buy and move into their new property in Summer, so the garden will be an important factor for them. To maximise the space and help viewers imagine relaxing in the garden, it’s best to focus some attention on clearing leaves, re-arranging seating areas and if possible, giving the grass a short trim.

Spring clean

Over the festive period and into January you may have accumulated more possessions than normal. A de-cluttered home allows your photographs to accentuate the space and potential buyers will feel the property offers great value for money. If you are planning to move home then clearing out the cupboards and selling / recycling items you’ll never use again, can make a difference. It’ll also make the process easier when you sell and move home.

Carpets and laminate

The winter months can be difficult for your carpets and laminate flooring. Wet and windy weather can cause chaos to your floors, especially with muddy feet. A deep clean of your carpet or a polish of the floors before you sell can make a significant difference. Removing marks and stains could be the difference for some buyers between offering on a home or looking elsewhere.
